Children
Children and Worship presents a joyful way to worship God, inviting both children and adults to experience the wonder and mystery of God through a unique storytelling format. Biblical stories and parables are presented to children using multi-sensory materials which create a worship environment that cultivates imagination and invites children to fall in love with God.
The key to Children and Worship is to create a worship environment for children instead of a school environment. Whereas education attempts to explain and interpret mystery, worship allows us to experience and dwell in the presence of God as a way of knowing.
Children are introduced to the same rituals that adults experience in the sanctuary so that they become able to worship meaningfully with the congregation later on. Although the program was designed for children ages 3-7, the stories speak to listeners of all ages as they bring their own experiences into dialogue with the biblical stories.
The stories, the silence, the wondering, and the freedom to respond individually combine to allow children to develop meaning and find order in their lives — and thus grow in their personal relationship with God.
The focal point of children's ministry at Haven Shores is Children and Worship, which is offered to children ages 3-12.
Our worship leaders have been trained by Children and Worship specialists at Western Theological Seminary and are excited about how God is using this approach at Haven Shores.
